Or worse ... the value of people. We have you ever stopped to think about what we mean when we say that a person is worth much? Or that something has a special value for us? This is an issue that I have either been present for some time. And it really worries me.
Why we feel we have more value when someone loves us and on the contrary, we feel something completely opposite when that someone does not? We spend our lives looking for the rest of us value, which is nothing else than the search for acceptance from others, but we realize that sometimes that we try to find happiness greatly depends on something.
First, we must speak of the "scale of values" of each, which, as McKay and Fanning say, is heavily influenced by our culture. Someone may have value for their kindness, their art, their purchasing power, their power of conviction, his academic achievements, etc.. So, we should speak rather of "types of values."
At the same time, one person, or the same thing can be of immense value to a person and not have the slightest value to another. Or, what is more, the perception of that thing or person, the given value can change over time in the eyes of the same person. What else clear example that the paintings by Van Gogh, who years after the death of its creator acquired a value that even he had imagined! Is not it ironic that the value of the same thing is so variable? All this leads me to think that we can not rely on the value it gives to things and that comes from abroad.
On the other hand, it convinces me the idea that the value comes from within, ie one that thinks it's worth, because many people may suffer an inferiority complex or superiority, and this distorts greatly value perception of that event we have.
I would like to conclude this item, but the truth is that even I'm working on it. I think we all have a value for the very existence (as explained by these authors to whom I referred to earlier) and that each one has to realize the full potential of yourself, regardless of the value that can come from outside or even inside because, after all, this value is not strong enough foundation to rely on it.
And now it's your turn, tell me what you think about and I'm very interested in this topic. Thanks.
